Who We Are
CSRD brings together public and private organizations and agencies committed to realizing the potential to enhance climate resilience and climate-smart policies and practices throughout the world, particularly in developing countries.
CSRD's founding partners include both public and private institutions from around the world. These partners have committed significant resources and financial and in-kind contributions to the CSRD initiative. The founding partners collectively make up the CSRD Steering Committee and provide the partnership's strategic direction and management oversight. Currently, the steering committee is chaired by US Agency for International Development (USAID), with the American Red Cross serving as vice chair.
CSRD is strengthened by a growing network of contributing partners. These partners share in the CSRD vision and offer technical and practical expertise, tools, and products for use in CSRD projects and activities. Contributing partners assist CSRD work at the global, regional, or national scale and across diverse sectors and thematic areas. Some organizations have been invited to act as contributing partners for specific CSRD efforts.
The following organizations have been recognized as contributing partners:
A major component of CSRD work supports national-level programs aimed at establishing climate services that enable improved decisions and practices. Such efforts draw on international expertise and knowledge resources but rest on national and regional institutions—the ultimate service providers and users. In these programs, countries are partners through the commitment of their governments. At present, these include Colombia, Ethiopia, and Bangladesh. In each setting, government agencies and institutions, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), or private-sector agencies serve as technical and operational partners.
CSRD's work intersects with several international development and climate services programs. CSRD is committed to fostering linkages with these programs and finding opportunities to work together to achieve greater impact. CSRD has recognized two important programs as initial partners:
Global Framework for Climate Services
The Global Framework for Climate Services provides a worldwide mechanism for coordinated actions to enhance the quality, quantity, and application of climate services. CSRD aims to contribute toward the implementation of GFCS, while providing leadership on information management and the identification of good practices in support of GFCS. Read More
Climate Services Partnership
The Climate Services Partnership (CSP) is a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration aimed at promoting resilience and advancing climate service capabilities worldwide. CSRD will partner with CSP in its knowledge resource programs as well as its networking, collaboration, and communications efforts.Read More
